Most people choose a cleanser based on two things: how much it foams, and how smooth the skin feels afterward. But few ever ask: what is this cleanser actually washing away — and what is it leaving behind?
For sensitive skin, compromised barriers, or anyone using retinol or acids, cleansing is the first link in the skincare chain. If that first step is already damaging the barrier, every serum and cream that follows is doing damage control.
That is the reason GLAIRIS Ferment Essence Foaming Cleanser exists.
The cleanser market traps users between two bad options.
Soap-based and SLS cleansers deliver strong cleansing power, but they strip oil through an alkaline environment — and the cost is your acid mantle. Skin feels tight, red, sometimes stinging. Used long-term, the barrier thins out, and skin becomes oilier and more sensitive, not less.
Amino acid cleansers swing to the other extreme. Gentle, yes — but the foam is thin, cleansing power is weak, and oil and residue stay behind. That slippery after-feel makes many people wonder if they washed at all.
Users are stuck in the middle: either over-cleansed, or under-cleansed.
"Most people who think they have oily skin are actually over-cleansing — the skin is just compensating."
— GLAIRIS Formulation TeamYou may have felt it yourself: skin feels fresh right after washing, then the T-zone is shiny again ten minutes later. That is not skin naturally producing too much oil. That is skin rushing to rebuild a barrier the cleanser just stripped.
GLAIRIS didn’t look for a middle ground between “gentle” and “effective.” The formula takes a different technical route and delivers both at once.
| Dimension | Soap-based / Strong | Standard Amino Acid | GLAIRIS 5-Amino Acid + Ferment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cleansing Power | Strong, but over-strips | Weak, residue remains | 5 amino acids — lifts dead skin, dissolves pore oil |
| Barrier Impact | Damages the acid mantle | Largely non-damaging | Barrier-safe; ferment essence actively nourishes |
| After-Feel | Tight, dry | Slippery, never quite clean | Clean but not stripped — soft and supple |
| Added Value | None | None | 15% ferment essence — care built into the cleanse |
| Fragrance | Often synthetic | Unscented or synthetic | 100% natural essential oils |
The 5-amino acid complex is the core — and it is more than “contains amino acids.” A single amino acid surfactant is gentle but limited in cleansing strength. GLAIRIS uses five different amino acids working in concert, each addressing a different type of debris or oil. Stacked together, the cleansing power far exceeds any single amino acid — without ever touching the barrier.
15% ferment essence is the second layer of the logic. Cleansing does not have to be only subtraction. It can also be addition — feeding the skin while it cleanses. Most cleansers only subtract. GLAIRIS adds a layer of nourishment to the same step.
"True gentleness isn't leaving residue behind — it's leaving the barrier intact."
— GLAIRIS Formulation TeamAnyone using retinol or acids. These actives already push the barrier to its limit. The cleanser has to be gentle enough to add zero extra stress. A 5-amino acid system cleanses without disturbing the acid mantle, so the side effects of actives don’t compound.
Oily skin that still feels tight after washing. The issue is rarely excess oil — it’s over-cleansing. When the acid mantle is stripped repeatedly, skin over-compensates. Switch to a barrier-safe cleanser, and oil production gradually settles back to normal.
Sensitive and seasonally reactive skin. The amino acid system is gentle enough for daily use — no irritation, no buildup. The ferment essence adds a layer of care during cleansing itself, which is especially welcome when the seasons turn.
Anyone simplifying their routine. 15% ferment essence means cleansing already carries nourishment. For people with packed schedules and no time to stack products, that’s one less step and one more layer of protection.
"I have sensitive + combination skin. My old cleanser used to leave my skin itchy and dry. Now that I'm halfway through my GLAIRIS bottle — no more itching, my skin actually feels moisturized. This one's a must-repurchase."

Foaming is the step that matters. Wet hands and face with lukewarm water, place the product in your palm with a little water, and lather until rich foam forms before bringing it to the skin. The amber gel turns into a soft cloud of foam — the fuller the foam, the gentler the cleanse.
Morning and evening call for different routines. In the morning, 1 to 2 pumps is enough to clear away the oil and product residue from overnight. At night, if you’ve worn makeup or sunscreen, start with a dedicated makeup remover, then follow with the cleanser as a second wash.
Apply your hydrating step within 30 seconds of rinsing. Skin absorbs best in that brief window — don’t waste it.
Ferment Essence Foaming Cleanser isn’t a basic cleanser meant to do the job. It’s a quiet decision to take the first step of skincare seriously.
